AS we wrap up Q1 of 2024, many have come to the realization that all of those New Year’s resolutions / goals they were determined to keep have once again slipped away…
Instead of completely giving up on the goals we have set for ourselves for 2024, maybe we should change our perspective and try tackling our goals in little steps. Below are some suggestions to help boost your motivation to keep those resolutions:
Manage your energy, not your time
Do you wish to have more energy in your daily life? At work? For your family? Do you start a “healthy” lifestyle only to fail at keeping it consistent? Time is fixed and your energy is limited so figuring out how to manage through the limitations of your energy will help you in finding where your consistent, productive energy filled zones are. Start by tracking how you feel throughout the day, do you notice a time of day that you have more energy? Less energy?
Define your priorities
Once you have determined your peak energy zones, take a moment to list out your daily priorities. Which priorities require more energy? Which ones require less? Remember that you should have no more than 3-4 daily priorities. These are things in your life that are the mainstays for your life, what means the most to you. From here you can match your high energy priorities with the time of day you have the most energy. By managing this according to your needs, you allow yourself to give your attention to the priorities that mean the most to you. This also gives you room to say “No” to tasks in your life that are not real priorities.
Implement your system
A system is a collection of daily habits that help you make progress toward your long-term goals. So take your main priorities and divide them up into smaller, manageable tasks that can be checked off each day. Develop a “pre-game” routine for each day. Each morning, take 10-15 minutes to organize your priorities, tasks, and to-do lists. This allows your brain to adjust from sleep mode to task mode, enabling you to be your most productive self.
Now that you have a way to manage those big goals, let’s get going and tackle them! Share with us, what big goals are you tackling this year?!
